Compare the full stay instead of one room-night. Some fees are charged per night, while others appear once per stay. A cheap first number can lose its advantage after city tax, service charge, resort fee, or cleaning fee is added.

Use the same dates, guest count, cancellation rule, and payment timing for each option. A non-refundable rate should not be compared directly with a flexible booking unless the savings are large enough to justify the risk.

A room far from the places you will visit may add daily transit fares, ride-share costs, late-night taxi needs, or lost time. The right comparison includes the cost of reaching the airport, main sights, meeting point, train station, and food options.

For short stays, location often matters more than the room discount. Saving a small amount per night can be a bad deal if every morning starts with a long transfer.

Breakfast, luggage storage, early check-in, parking, laundry, Wi-Fi, gym access, and local calls may be included at one property and paid at another. These are not luxury details when they affect the way the trip works.

Deposits and card holds also matter for cash flow. A large temporary hold can reduce the available balance on a travel card even if it is later released.

Create one row per hotel with room price, required fees, estimated transport, meals replaced by breakfast, cancellation risk, and payment timing. The best choice is the room that fits the trip, not only the room with the lowest base price.
